“When the Sword Meets the Sky: Immersion with Mathias Biabiany by Drone”

Last week I had the unique opportunity to discover the fascinating world of fencing in a weapons room, in the company of Mathias Biabiany, French swordsman. Mathias has become my “go-to guy” since we met during an interview at the Olympic Games; Mathias has an atypical look, Guadeloupe Islands roots, all rocked against a damso background, but above all he is passionate about new technologies.

  • Mathias Biabiany: A swordsman at the top of his art

Mathias Biabiany is not only a high-level fencer, he is also a true ambassador of the discipline. This weekend, he was in full competition, testing his talent and preparation against the best opponents. The atmosphere in the weapons room was both intense and friendly.

I could feel that his coach is not there to joke, so I saw Mathias, concentrated and determined. I was lucky enough that he shared with me some tips on managing pressure in competition, the need to remain calm and precise in one's movements, and the importance of solid mental preparation.

  • The drone at the service of video

One of the important moments of this meeting was the use of my drone to make a video clip, capturing spectacular images of the fencing match. Thanks to the drone, we were able to discover fencing from a completely new angle. This idea comes from Mathias himself. The drone not only enriched the quality, but it also made it possible to showcase the speed and agility of athletes, like Mathias, in impressive sequences. The combination of sporting tradition and modern technology offered a result that was as captivating as it was unprecedented.

  • A weekend between competition and creativity

Mathias Biabiany combines his sporting commitment and his interest in new technologies. As he embarked on qualifying events for the French championship, I already have lots of ideas going through my head, like moving the fencing room to a beach.

This first experience in a fencing room, alongside Mathias Biabiany, was a real favorite. Not only was I able to experience the intensity of the fencing competition, but I was also impressed by how technology, with the help of drones, can enhance such a traditional sport. A day full of emotions, learning and innovations that will remain engraved in my memory.
